2024 Quad Cities District Employee of the Year: Nicole McMeekan
FBG is proud to award Nicole “Nikki” McMeekan the 2024 Quad Cities District Employee of the Year award. With nearly 2 years of dedication and exceptional performance, Nikki has made significant contributions to her team, her customers and the community. Her leadership, creativity and tenacity embody the core values of FBG.
Nikki has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to taking on additional responsibilities. Along with overseeing the Palmer College educational facility, she manages student housing, ensuring both areas operate seamlessly. Nikki has also volunteered her time and expertise to assist with new account startups, often working outside her normal schedule to help set these accounts up for success.
“Nikki has been a very integral addition to the campus,” says Palmer Facilities Manager Mike Gehlsen. “Whether it is campus work or housing, she handles all with professionalism. It is a joy to have her here.”
Nikki’s transparency, professionalism and dedication are evident in everything she does. She is upfront with customers, presenting solutions to challenges, and is fully engaged with her team, providing the tools and training needed for success. Her leadership has instilled pride in her team, reflected in the exceptional cleanliness and attention to detail across the Palmer College campus.
Nikki’s ability to creatively solve work-related challenges is a testament to her leadership. She has skillfully reassigned team members to positions where they can thrive, understanding that people perform best under leadership styles tailored to their strengths. This adaptability and willingness to make changes have led to improved morale and effectiveness within her team.
When faced with emergencies, Nikki consistently rises to the occasion. During a plumbing failure that caused flooding, Nikki immediately contacted the customer, coordinated her crew and ensured the cleanup was handled efficiently and without interruption to operations. Her ability to remain calm under pressure and take decisive action exemplifies her strong judgment and initiative.
“Nikki’s most outstanding trait is her tenacity,” says District Director Eric Henry. “She approaches every challenge with determination and resilience, always finding a way to get the job done. This never quit mindset inspires her team and ensures that every problem, no matter how difficult, is met with a solution.”
To further enhance her leadership skills, Nikki recently completed the Revela Supervisory class and is now advancing her development by participating in the Level Up training program.
Nikki’s commitment to FBG extends beyond her regular duties. She played a big role in decorating the company van for the most recent community Halloween parade. In her personal life, Nikki and her three daughters support their community by making and distributing chili to the homeless and participating in roadway cleanup efforts.
Nicole McMeekan’s leadership and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable member of the FBG team. It is with great pride that we recognize Nikki as the recipient of Quad Cities District Employee of the Year award.
