Amber Ferry
Operations Supervisor at UnityPoint Health in Fort Dodge, IA
People Development and Empowerment
Amber Ferry has proven to be an exceptional leader, mentor and problem-solver. Her dedication to employee training, development and empowerment has made a lasting impact on her team and our client. This year, Amber took on the responsibility of hiring and training for all the Fort Dodge area. She oversees up to18 part-time and full-time team members across 12 buildings, including those in Humboldt, Eagle Grove and Manson which are each 30 miles away.
Amber’s leadership has directly contributed to the growth of key team members. She has mentored Vanessa Santana, who started in 2021, helping her expand her responsibilities and develop new skills, including carpet extraction. She has also worked closely with Tabitha Poldervaart, who joined FBG part-time in 2023 while also working for FedEx. Under Amber’s guidance, Tabi transitioned to full-time with FBG within months, took on additional responsibilities and continues to grow within the organization.
Hiring in rural northwest Iowa presents difficulties, but Amber has continuously found ways to build and maintain a strong, reliable team. She has developed strong relationships with clinic managers, EVS leadership and security, strengthening FBG’s partnership with UnityPoint and reducing the need for upper management involvement in the area. Additionally, she has partnered with Iowa Works in Fort Dodge to help source candidates and facilitate interviews, further supporting FBG’s staffing needs.
Amber remains committed to ensuring that every new hire is well-prepared to meet UnityPoint’s standards. She works side by side with each employee, coaching them until they confidently demonstrate the required skills before receiving their UnityPoint badge. To further support training, she has developed cheat sheets tailored to individual learning styles, ensuring success across the board.

Tabitha Poldervaart
UnityPoint – Trinity Wound Healing Center
Stability and Growth
Tabitha “Tabbie” Poldervaart was assigned to new clinic spaces in Fort Dodge, including Wound/PT and Express Care, which are high-profile areas that UnityPoint recently invested in. Over the past 12 months, Tabbie has received written thank-yous, treats and gifts every month from UnityPoint staff in appreciation of her hard work. This is something we have never seen in seven years of service in this area. She has taken the time to understand the unique expectations of these clinics and consistently delivers the scope of service our client requires every day.
Tabbie has repeatedly gone above and beyond in her role. When a sewer backup left a mess in the clinic late in the day, maintenance fixed the issue, but the cleanup was left to Tabbie without prior notice. She has also helped cover open shifts on weekends, assisted other coworkers in different clinics with running auto-scrubbers for floor care and supported her supervisor with special projects. She is always willing to try new processes, tools and equipment to improve efficiency and service.
Beyond her work ethic, Tabbie brings a positive attitude, a great sense of humor and a strong sense of ownership to her role, which both her coworkers and clients appreciate. A busy mother of three, she continues to balance her responsibilities while making a lasting impact at FBG.
