Celebrating 30 Years of National Safety Month

Since 1996, organizations across the country have joined the National Safety Council in observing National Safety Month each June. Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the campaign continues to raise awareness around some of the most important safety challenges facing workplaces, communities and everyday life.
National Safety Month encourages organizations and individuals to prioritize safety not only on the job, but wherever life happens. This year’s weekly themes focus on:
- Moving Safety Forward
- Roadway Safety
- Holistic Worker Health
- Slips, Trips and Falls

These topics highlight the importance of building strong safety habits, improving awareness and creating environments where people can work and live more safely every day.
Safety is more than policies and procedures. It is a shared commitment that depends on communication, accountability and looking out for one another. Whether preventing workplace injuries, practicing safe driving habits or supporting employee well-being, every action contributes to a stronger culture of safety.

As part of National Safety Month, the NSC also encourages individuals to take the SafeAtWork Pledge by committing to:
- Actively helping improve workplace safety programs
- Reporting hazards promptly and suggesting solutions
- Being a positive safety role model both at work and at home
After 30 years, National Safety Month remains an important reminder that safety is everyone’s responsibility and that continuous improvement helps protect employees, families and communities.
