Prevent Injuries with Everyday Habits

injuries

At FBG, safety is everyone’s responsibility, and small habits can make a big difference in preventing injuries on the job. Whether you’re working at a desk or on your feet, here are a few simple ways to stay strong and work smart:

Lift with Care

Protect your back by using proper lifting techniques:

  • Bend at your knees, not at your waist

  • Keep your back straight and avoid twisting

  • Hold objects close to your body

  • If it’s too heavy, ask for help

Stretch It Out

Regular stretching can reduce muscle tension and improve flexibility:

  • Focus on your neck, shoulders, back and wrists

  • Hold each stretch for at least 15–30 seconds

  • Make it a habit throughout your day to improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension

Take Breaks

Short, frequent breaks help you recharge and stay safe:

  • Every hour, take 1–2 minutes to stretch, walk or change positions to reduce sleepiness and prevent injuries

  • Give your eyes a break from screens

  • Try a different activity to reset your focus

Adjust Your Desk

If you work at a desk, posture matters:

  • Keep feet flat, knees at a 90° angle and elbows level with your desk

  • Position your monitor at eye level to avoid neck strain

  • Ensure your setup is comfortable and supportive
