Dupaco Voice Building: Excellence in Historic Preservation
One of our newest clients is housed in a newly revitalized building in Dubuque, IA. Dupaco Credit Union is now in the Dupaco Voices Building and we’re thrilled to be there too!
The renovation of the Dupaco Voices Building, in Dubuque’s Historic Millwork District, recently received recognition for its outstanding revitalization and preservation efforts. The honors include:
- Best Building Rehabilitation Award by Main Street Iowa
- Ken Kringle Historic Preservation Award by the City
- Adaptive Re-Use and Sustainability in Preservation Award
by Preservation Iowa.
Dupaco President and CEO Joe Hearn said, “Beyond giving new life to a tired community treasure, the revitalization of the Dupaco Voices Building provides a truly unique space for not only Dupaco employees, but future business and retail tenants,” said Hearn. “Dupaco was proud to work with such a great group of craftspeople, tradespeople, and contractors who played an active role in this project to help breathe new life into Voices.”
The 171,432-square-foot, five-story structure was originally built in 1924, part of the Carr, Ryder & Adams Manufacturing Company when Dubuque’s Millwork District was the largest maker of windows, doors, and cabinetry in the United States.
Market Manager Eric Henry shared that, “the structure of the building has exposed brick and open ceilings with original woodwork. We use traditional cleaning agents and processes as the interior has been modernized with the renovation. They built a nice rooftop deck for events and for all to use during the warmer months. There are many unique qualities to this facility.”
Dupaco Community Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa. Founded in 1948 by ten Dubuque Packing Company employees, it has more than 600 employees and 22 branch office locations. It is also a Forbes Best-in-State Credit Union and a Des Moines Register Top Workplace in Iowa winner.
Congratulations to Dupaco on their 75th Anniversary! FBG is proud to be servicing this historic building.
